Etchd (“Etchd,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps creators turn podcasts and other source material into social media posts and schedule them across connected channels. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Etchd web application and related services (the “Service”).
Etchd is currently in beta. Features, data flows, and this policy may change as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address. We verify it by sending a one-time code to that address; entering the code confirms you control the inbox. We do not require a password. We may store basic profile details you choose to add, along with sign-in timestamps and the authentication tokens needed to keep you logged in.
Content you create and generate
The Service stores the content you put into it and the content it produces for you, including:
- Source material you provide, such as links, transcripts, episode notes, captions, and prompts.
- AI-generated post content drafted on your behalf — post text, threads, captions, and generated images.
- Edits, schedules, publish times, and the channels you target for each post.
Connected social accounts
When you connect a social channel, we store the access tokens and account identifiers needed to publish on your behalf through our publishing partner. We connect and publish to third-party platforms through the Zernio aggregator rather than integrating with each platform directly. We do not collect your social account passwords.
Billing information
Etchd does not charge for the beta. When paid plans launch, payments will be processed by Stripe. We will receive limited billing details (such as plan, status, and the last four digits of a card) but we do not store full card numbers — Stripe handles card data directly.
Usage and technical data
Like most web apps, we receive standard technical information automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, actions taken, and timestamps. We use this to operate the Service, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core Service: drafting, scheduling, and publishing your posts.
- To generate content with AI based on the source material and prompts you supply.
- To verify your identity and keep you signed in.
- To publish to the channels you connect, through Zernio, at the times you schedule.
- To operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
- To communicate with you about your account, security, and important changes.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions once paid plans are available.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the private content of your posts to train third-party advertising models.
3. AI-generated content
Etchd uses an AI model gateway to generate post text and images. When you ask Etchd to generate or rewrite content, the relevant inputs — such as your prompt, source links, and existing drafts — are sent to the gateway and the underlying model providers it routes to so they can return a result.
AI output can be inaccurate, may resemble other content, and should be reviewed before you publish. You are responsible for what you post. See our Terms of Service for details on responsibility and acceptable use.
4. Third parties we share data with
We share data with service providers only as needed to run the Service. Key providers include:
- Zernio (publishing aggregator) — receives your connected-account tokens and post content in order to publish to the social platforms you select.
- InsForge (backend platform) — hosts our database, authentication, file storage, and related infrastructure, and therefore stores the data described above on our behalf.
- AI model gateway and model providers — receive the inputs needed to generate content when you use AI features.
- Stripe (payments) — processes payments and subscriptions when paid plans launch.
Each provider handles your data under its own terms and privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Connected accounts and disconnecting
You can disconnect a social channel from within Etchd at any time. Doing so removes our ability to publish to that channel going forward and deletes the tokens we hold for it.
Important: disconnecting inside Etchd may not revoke Etchd’s or Zernio’s access on the provider’s side. Because connections are made through the Zernio aggregator, an authorization may persist in your account on the social platform itself. To fully revoke access, visit the connected-apps or authorized-applications settings on each social platform and remove the authorization there as well.
6. Cookies and authentication
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your session, and operate the Service securely. These are essential to how authentication works; if you block them, you may not be able to stay logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Data retention
We keep your account information, content, and connected-account data for as long as your account is active, so the Service continues to work as you expect. When you delete your account or specific content, we delete or de-identify the associated data from our active systems, except where we need to retain limited records to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements.
Backups and provider logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten in the ordinary course. Content already published to a social platform is governed by that platform and is not removed by deleting your Etchd account.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit much of your data directly in the app.
To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at support@etchd.app from the address on your account, or use any in-app delete option where available. We will process verified requests within a reasonable time and confirm when complete. Remember to revoke access on each social platform separately, as described in Section 5.
9. Data security
We rely on reputable infrastructure providers and reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.
10. Children
Etchd is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International users
We and our providers may process and store data in countries other than where you live. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, which may have different data-protection rules than your own.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
